hello, world!

My last blog entry was on April 17, 2009 on my now-defunct livejournal. It was about that week's American Idol episode (aka Anoop spazzing) and my love for Demi Lovato's debut album. It was around that time when "micro-blogging" took over everyone's lives–including mine, unfortunately. I grew content with 140-characters-or-less and didn't bother to write longer entries anymore. I tried tumblr because it was new and looked cool, but then they introduced "reblogging," "tumblrarity," and other things I didn't love which led to dashboard-flooding and giving up on it as a blogging tool entirely.

2009 was an event-filled year. From the balikbayans in our house during the summer to my whole backpack being stolen to the beginning of my k-pop fandom to losing everything during Ondoy to the long process of rebuilding our lives and to spending the holidays in an incomplete house but a more than complete home. Those would've been great to write about, but I wasn't able to. I want to start writing again because I miss the feeling of looking back at past entries and remembering all the thoughts and feelings while writing them down. I miss not limiting myself to 140 characters to say how I'm feeling, what I'm doing at the moment, or how my day was. And most of all, I just miss writing.

I signed up for posterous around the same time I did for tumblr but back then posterous didn't support custom themes or custom subdomains. But all that has changed and I'm here now! Armed and ready to write again! *throws confetti*

P.S. Note to self: do not fail this time!

1. Personally I liked reblogging since I didn't have much original content to post - I just don't like the way it's trending now, with the bad typography and annoying watermarks and the way THOSE keep on appearing on my dashboard - but Tumblarity was one of the most LOLWHAT features ever, although I got used to ignoring it. And then it... seems to have mysteriously disappeared.

2. Virtual hug re: 2009, Sev!

3. I do wish you (and Reese) would least cross-post your blog posts to LJ, because that's the one blogging platform that I stay loyal to, although I don't update as often anymore. Still, it's always been more convenient to check my friends list. XD

Hello cactusbrandy! You have the honor of being my first commenter! :D

1. Hmm, tumblr started out as a place where'd you'd share stuff you found interesting but when reblogging came along it became a place where you share stuff that other people shared and other people shared and... you get it :)) And yes, tumblarity has disappeared because it was the root of all dashboard spammage! Not that the flooding has stopped. Oh hoh.

2. Virtual hug back!!!

3. If there's a way to cross-post the entry without manually locking it, sure! Hahaha, I know this is public anyway but LJ = friends-locked for me lol :D

1. Re; Tumblr, I think the... problem lies with the people you're following, not on reblogging/the platform itself. I mean, I *did* start Tumbling just to share stuff (with ninja emo entries somewhere in between), and I was mostly following Cool People with cool content, so my dashboard was relatively clean, but I can't help but follow back the people who follow me first, so... There.

There is also the issue of people using the reblog tool as a means of communicating instead of taking it to Facebook or smth. I AM GUILTY OF THIS, but not as guilty as I am with Twitter right now - lol, napag-usapan na ata natin' to. :)) Which is why I support the comment function, even if it might go against the point of Tumblr.

...I don't know why I'm saying this here.

2. tl;dr = people should all just move/go back to LJ, and keep Tumblr as a scrapbooking thing. I mean. Comment threads, f-list filters, and all the downloadables! ALSO, CHOOSING WHICH ICON TO POST COMMENTS/ENTRIES WITH. HOW CAN YOU NOT MISS THAT.

/not-so-subtle hinting; I JUST CAN'T ACCEPT HOW YOU'VE CALLED YOUR LJ "NOW-DEFUNCT" LIKE YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO USE IT AGAIN. :( :( :(

3. I think Wordpress lets you cross-post to LJ under f-lock (may emoticons pa! haha). But apparently you're running on Posterous, and idk how *that* works.
